Moose Jaw Warriors Complete Comeback to Reach Ed Chynoweth Cup WHL Final
Blades' Comeback Ends in Game 7 Heartbreak
The Moose Jaw Warriors have punched their ticket to the Western Hockey League (WHL) final, completing a remarkable comeback against the Saskatoon Blades in their best-of-seven series.
After dropping the first three games of the series, the Warriors clawed their way back, winning four straight games to secure the series victory. The deciding game was played at the Moose Jaw Events Centre, where Warriors forward Martin Laković scored the game-winning goal in overtime to give his team a 4-3 victory.
The Blades had a 3-1 lead in the third period, but the Warriors rallied with two goals in the final six minutes of regulation to force overtime. Laković's wrist shot in the first extra period sealed the victory and sent the Warriors to the WHL final for the first time since 2006.
The Warriors will now face the Prince Albert Raiders in the WHL final, which begins on Friday, April 28. The Raiders advanced to the final by defeating the Edmonton Oil Kings in four games.
